Ambassador was founded in 1997, a result of the merger of Monarch, a reprographics company, and print company Buckway. Monarch can trace its origins back to the 1930's when it was the reprographics arm of E S & A Robinson (later DRG). A management buy-out in 1988 resulted in the founding of Monarch in Fishponds Bristol, where Ambassador still resides.
Monarch carried out work primarily for blue chip companies providing expertise in pre-press and supplying local printers with reprographic services. One of these clients was Direct Holidays, and with the foresight of one of its directors who also happened to be a Gemini Group director, they could clearly see the benefits of having their own repro company and so acquired Monarch.
In 1997 the Gemini Group acquired a Cirencester based printer called Buckway, moved their presses to Bristol and the company was renamed Ambassador Litho. In 1999 the company opened its new design studio, immediately giving Ambassador the edge over its rivals being able to offer the complete print solution.
Ambassador never sits still and continues to set itself apart from the rest; with its mailing house in Avonmouth, the company provides a truly seamless operation.
